Fiesta del Sol

Attended by around 200,000 people it is the biggest in the region, during the 2 days the festival provides diverse entertainment around Eindhoven. International musicians and street theatre performers make sure everyone has a great time. What makes the event special is that it run entirely by volunteers and is sponsored by many local businesses.

Park Hilaria

Possibly one of the Netherlands largest fairs with over a kilometre of rides an attractions. The event runs for around 10 days and has circus events as well as many free live performances.

Dynamo Outdoor

This event is one for those who enjoy modern music and creating music, not only does it stage live performances; it also holds creative musical workshops. Many styles of music are covered Rap, Hip-Hop, electric, rock and metal are just a few of them.

Folkwoods Festival

Since 2000 the Folkwoods Festival has done a great job at being different from other festivals. Whilst it is primarily a folk festival playing European traditional music acts from as far away as America perform there. As a folk festival it plays a broader variety of music as long as it fits within the ethos of the genre.

The Lichtjesroute (Route of Lights)

Every autumn in the southern Netherlands and especially in Eindhoven, the parade is held to celebrate the cities liberation from occupation on the 18th September 1944. The route stretch around 22 kilometres with spectacular lighting displays along the way.

Open Monument Day

Although the name suggests the event is a single day, it in fact takes place over a weekend. Open Monument Day is a National event, during which around 3000 historic Dutch monuments are open to the public, many of which are not usually open to visitors.

Classic Light

2010 sees what is hoped will become an annual event in Eindhoven, held in Light Square in the city, this free outdoor event should go on to be regular for lovers of classical music.

Dutch Design Week

An important and largely non-commercial annual event on the design world's calendar. A meeting place for designers of many disciplines to get together and discuss and learn about new advance in such fields as fashion and graphic design.

Marathon Eindhoven

2010 sees the 27th Marathon Eindhoven with somewhere in the region of 17,000 runners and around 150,000 onlookers. Around the course there are many entertainments such as music around the course making for a great family day out.

Tromp International Music Competition and Festival

2010 sees Tromp's 21st year, the biannual festival was originally for young musicians from the Benelux countries but is now an event with many other international participants. Since 2004 Tromp has focused on percussion and string quartets on a rotating basis.
